The society portrays man in machismo light. Masculinity connotes fierceness, dominance, aggressiveness and toughness. Apart from this, they are expected to be many things, providers, hard workers, if in the house, plumbers, carpenters, cobblers, and so on. They are literally expected to know everything and anything. My heart goes out for men!
While it is okay to know the basic things that can help in navigating life, it should be understood that men are humans, not gods, they have weaknesses and do not have to be tough all the time. That is why I like to describe a macho man as not only fierce, strong and tough but also soft with emotions.
So, my dear men, it is okay to accept your weaknesses, you cannot know everything, but you can learn! Here are some simple Diy ideas to assist you:
- Easy Tie Rack

Do you feel pressured picking out your tie, especially when they are all rumbled in that wardrobe? Here is a simple tie rack trick to make picking out your tie easy. Get a wooden board, wood glue, nails and hammer; with the help of the hammer, and the nails, attach the wooden board on your wall. After it sits well, get more nails and with a space of one inch apart, drive the nails into the wooden board just enough to make them firm. After this, hang your ties and voila! you have your tie rack. What do you think about this? You can try the next hack too.

For the beard gangs, I know one challenge you may have with keeping your beards is its maintenance as many are at the risk of having rough faces after they use the razor blade for shaving or the wrong creams. Here is a Diy shaving cream recipe you can rub on for an easy shave off and it would leave you feeling refreshed with a smooth, razor-burn free face. For the ingredients, get the following:
1/3 cup of shea butter
1/3 cup of virgin coconut oil
¼ cup of sweet almond oil
10 drops of rosemary essential oil
3/5 drops of peppermint essential oil.
In a saucepan, over low heat, combine the shea butter and coconut oil. Stir until they melt and are well blended. Remove from the heat, transfer to a bowl, and add in all the oils, then stir to mix together. Take the bowl containing the mixtures and place in the refrigerator till it cools down completely. When it cools down, it should also become solid. When you have achieved a solid texture, scoop it all into any container of your choice and your homemade shaving cream is ready!
3. Daily Skin Care Routine

When it gets to caring for the skin, many men 'leave the group chat'. Apart from achieving an enviable skin health, skin care also slows down aging, increases your confidence and improves overall health. Here are tips you can engage in for a smooth skin:
Wash your face every morning and at night before bed, with a men's facial cleaner. This would prevent oil and other pore-clogging bacteria from sitting on your face.
Exfoliate your face 1-3 times a week after cleansing your face. In cosmetics, exfoliation is the removal of a layer of dead skin and other build up on your skin.
Hydrate your face by applying men’s face moisturizer. Moisturizing delays those signs of aging and delivers hydration and essential nutrients to skin cells so they can continue to look full, and help produce a healthful face.
Apply sunscreen before you go out. Sunscreen prevents the body from sun exposure, as it could damage and age the skin faster. It also helps keep the complexion and enhances skin health even.
These are the three basic tips you want to follow for a daily care routine. However, it is not enough to do know tips, you must be consistent with them!
4. Wall Photos Art

Apart from being all macho both in look, and in character, why not put some décor on? Don’t get me wrong, I know there are men who love decorating their house, my focus however, is on the few ones who could not care less about how their house looks like. Here is a simple and little wall decor to add colour to your house. Find an empty wall in your living room or bed room and gather photographs of yourself or with loved ones. Using tapes or wall friendly gums, attach the photos on the wall and there you have a very little wall art for your room.
Conclusion
While societal expectations may paint a picture of men as always tough and self-sufficient, it is essential to recognize that everyone has vulnerabilities. Embracing these does not diminish one's masculinity but rather enhances it by adding depth and authenticity. The DIY ideas provided are practical steps to help you navigate daily life with ease and add personal touches to your surroundings. Remember, it's okay to seek balance between strength and sensitivity, and to continually learn and grow.
