Imagine getting ready to go out on a date, you are running out of time and as you prepare to dress up, the zip attached suddenly wears out. Or you are on a laughing spree with your colleague at work and then you realize your mascara has streamed down, due to the tears that had formed out of excitement, how do you save your day in a jiffy?

Well, that's where DIY(Do-It-Yourself) comes in. It's a blessing in disguise, an undoubted answer to any prayer because it comes in handy. 

Every girl needs to know some tricks and tips that make life easy, hacks that serve as an alternative when you're in tight corners, be it when you spill a drink on your dress, when you are out of body creams, when your shoes are unfitting, etc. DIY can help you cover up which doesn't cost much, helps save stress and be creative. 

Your day can go from cramps to tranquility and that's what this quick guide aims to achieve with 5 amazing DIYs every girl should know and find useful.

1. Sew with a needle and a thread

You don't have to wait for a machine before sewing some of your worn-out clothes. With a needle and thread, it's simple and fast. Roll out a single thread, focus your eyes on the hole in the needle, and then gently put the needle through you can either sew horizontally or vertically, and as soon as you are done, if you don't have a blade or scissors, you can cut out the thread with your teeth. 

Never say never when you learn and know some simple sewing techniques with just a needle and a thread, you don't have to dispose off your wears because they are torn.

2. Sort out your keys as fast as you can

It's one thing to have a bunch of keys, it's another to know which key opens a door. Imagine you've got an appointment and on your way to where you are headed, you forgot something at home and you've got a bunch of keys, testing these keys one after the other will only bring panic and fear.

Apply paint on each key, it could be a dot or a symbol of different colors to signify which opens a door and can also help you remember (classy babe) using color coding to the rescue.

3. Make your oversized shoes fit

You don't need to quickly dispose off your old-fashioned shoes which are now oversized or maybe you just bought them, wore them once, and a few months later, they feel bigger than your feet.

Here's what you can do, use a piece of cloth such as handkerchiefs, socks, etc. Fold them in layers, at least two, or rumple to make them rounded like a ball before putting into your shoe cover at the front. These DIY tips got you covered.

4. Clean blurry mirrors/glasses

Two major reasons why your glasses or mirror usually becomes blurry are because you touch them with oily hands and sweaty palms. Using water to clean them won't make the blur go away but dampen them more.

Take a piece of clothing or toilet roll, pour a certain amount of powder inside, and gently clean your glasses or mirror, and like magic, you can see everything around crystal-clear. Amazing, yeah?

5. Cleanse oily stains

Most oily stains on clothes can be embarrassing even after washing, especially with powerful grease such as palm oil, groundnut oil, etc. The effect usually takes time to be cleared off but with kerosene, be rest assured that it's a matter of minutes for your clothing to be renewed. 

Pour kerosene on the exact spot where the palm oil stains are, spread outside for the sun and the breeze to do the rest justice for some minutes, go back and you realize the smell of the kerosene is gone so is the stain. Wash thereafter and your clothes are sparkling and ready to be worn.

6. Clean your Jewelries

You have a party a just a couple of hours away and you realize that none of your jewelries are clean and you plan to dress to kill. You can not rush off to a jeweler or to a store to get ultrasonic cleaners. Try this hack!

Get a bowl and line it's inside with foil paper, and pour 1 cup of water inside. Add 1 tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of baking Soda and 1 tablespoon of dish liquid and mix together. Put your Jewelries inside and soak for 10 minutes. Scrub well with a clean toothbrush till clean, rinse well and dry it off completely. You are ready for your party!

7. DIY Skin care for a smooth face

Pimples, rough patches and dark spots, become irksome when they sit too long on the face. They could even bring down your self esteem. Get rid of the toxins, dead cells and oily secretions that cause them by Cleansing your face in this simple step using kitchen ingredients.

Get the yolk of one large egg and mix together with 1teaspoon of honey. Apply on your face and leave it till it becomes dry, then rinse it off.

Do this religiously and you your face would pass for modelling!

8. Hanger/Curtain loops hack

It is understandable that the different life commitments and daily schedule can sometimes throw one off the balance of maintaining a neat and orderly room, workspace or wardrobes. It’s worse when you have to start looking for your favorite underwear amidst tons of clothes that are rumpled together. 

Get shower curtain loops and repurpose them by clipping them on a hanger. Pick out all your underwear and hang them each on a loop. You can make another hanger like this with another bunch of loops and a hanger and hang your scarves or bikinis. It would not only make your room look orderly but also make it easier for you find your undies. 

9. Hide your peeled bag handle

Many people buy leather material thinking it is original while it’s not. A leather bag could peel quickly if its original form was compromised to make a cheaper type. It could also peel faster when cleaning products that contain alcohol and solvents are used to clean it. As a lady are dressed up for your meeting and ready to go when you noticed that your bag handle is peeling off, do not panic!

Get a small scarf from your closet, wrap tightly around your bag handle and tie it stylishly at the end. 

This does not repair the peel but it would actually buy you time and save you for the day!

10. Dry your nails faster

Making and painting nails has been a way of adding beauty to the body. For some ladies, it’s a routine that is therapeutic, for another ,it is to impress others, while some Just paint their nails to feel bolder and confident. When you paint your nails sometimes, you want it to dry out faster so your can do other things, don’t start mouth blowing it or swaying it up and down just to get it to dry faster, try this hack:

Get a small bowl, pour cold water inside and dip your just painted nails inside. Leave for about 2 to 3 minutes. Once you notice beads of water on the nail, know it is all dry. This hack is very fast because cold water makes nail polish become firm quickly.
