Breaking News: Chicago State University Releases Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Academic Records

In accordance with an Illinois, United States (U.S.) court order, the Chicago State University (CSU) has responded to former vice president Atiku Abubakar's request. The CSU insisted in its response that it does not maintain duplicates of diploma certificates issued to students. It also validated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 1979 graduation from the institution.

According to the CSU, Tinubu earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1979. However, it stated that after a diligent search, it was able to locate some, but could not reveal their identities due to privacy concerns. In 1992, President Bola Tinubu presented a replacement certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The CSU stated that, following a diligent investigation, it had located several certificates that matched the replacement certificate. This was disclosed in response to Judge Nancy Maldonado's order that the school provide the documents requested by People's Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar. The discovery of similar certificates has rendered Atiku's fishing expedition to Chicago futile.

The school said that after a diligent search of its archives, it has discovered at least three certificates matching the replacement certificate that President Bola Tinubu presented to INEC in 1992. Atiku requested in Request No. 3 "true and correct copies of any diplomas issued by CSU (other than to Mr. Tinubu) that contain the same font, seal, signatures, and wording (other than the name of the recipient and the specific degree awarded) as Exhibit C to the First Liu Declaration, which purports to be a CSU diploma issued to Mr. Tinubu on or about June 22, 1979."

The school replied, "The documents responsive to this request, which CSU was able to locate after a diligent investigation, are attached and labelled CSU 0008 through CSU 0010.
